Week 7 Writing

Week 5 Maths Blog

 Kia Ora bloggers, this blog will be about my maths blog for week 5. The task was to get with a maths buddy and solve the problems on the problem solving document. The questions for this week were around the NBA. Here is my answers to one of the questions.

There are 30 teams in the NBA, if 4/6 of these teams are from the Central and down South of the US,  how many teams are there in this category?

My answer is 20 because if you times 5 by 6 it is 30 so if you take away 10 which is 2 sixths it comes up with 20.

Week 1 Maths

 Hello bloggers, this blog will be about my maths create for week one. The task was to work with a Maths buddy and solve all of the problem solving questions. The questions were on area and perimeter.. We were working out the sizing of the back field. Here is the area and perimeter of the back field. The Top third is the bike track, The middle third is the open area, The bottom left is the hall and the bottom right is more open area.

Speech writing

 Kia Ora bloggers, this blog will be about my favourite paragraph in my speech. My favourite paragraph is my introduction. My speech was on one of the first four sustainable development goals. The goal I chose was No Poverty. Here it is.

We are facing the biggest problem the human race has ever faced… Poverty. If we leave this for too long there will be a serge in how many people in poverty from 736 million to at least 1 billion. The united nations zero poverty scheme is that they want to end all poverty everywhere by 2030. If we don’t meet this goal the global death rate will be shocking. Talking about shocking you’ll be shocked to hear that because of the Covid pandemic 71 million people will be pushed into extreme poverty. Some people are so rich that they can just throw away money and others are scavenging for food because they can’t afford food. We can stop the cycle of poverty by donating money to UNICEF and other charities to help slow the cycle of Poverty. All I can say is how would you feel if you were living on $1.90 a day?

 Kia Ora bloggers, this blog will be about my persuasive writing for week 3. The task was to come up with some rhetorical questions and some hard hitting facts about one of the top four sustainable development goals. The goal I chose was No Poverty. Here is my task.

Writing Week 2 Term 3

Kia Ora blogger, this blog will be about my writing task for this week. The task was to create another nine sentences about the Hansel and Gretel story. Here are my nine sentences.

Footsteps hit their heart like a stampede of rhinos. The door knob slowly turned with an ear piercing squeal. A towering green figure stared down at the children. Within seconds Hansel was in a cage getting stuffed with food. Every Millisecond, Every Nanosecond, Every Femtosecond she fed him: Crunchy Carrots, Cheesy Chips and Melting Marshmallows. Over the weeks Hansel became Thicker and Thicker. Meanwhile Gretel has been looking for something to break the cage to let Hansel out. As she walks through the forest she spots something, a red pool, a blood bath, she looks closely and spots her father's special freckle. Gretel picks a nailed piece of wood and runs back to the house where Hansel is held captive, she peers through the window and finds Hansel lying dead on the floor with the Witch sharpening a massive knife, Gretel smashes down the door and smacks the Witch in the head, the nail penetrating the microscopic brain.

Reading Week 1 Term 3

Hello bloggers, this blog will be about my reading task for this week. The task was to create a word bank with sentences from a story that we read.  You will see that I am using the Fantastics. Here is my sentences.

Feeling

Macbeth feels the breath catch in his chest.

Asking

Sarah opens the door and throws her arms around her husband. “You come with news?” she asks. 

Noticing

By the weak glow of the fire, Macbeth sees bone-white skin and dark hair; scowling faces hidden by midnight cloaks.

Touching

A shovel leans heavily on his shoulder, a pan burrows into his back... and for all that, Macbeth has nothing to show for it.

Action

John Macbeth bows his head to the storm and follows the path of the creek back to the camp.

Smelling

Hastily, she gathered up the flowers; the fresh scent of daffodils invaded her space. She breathed.

Tasting

She decided to collect some and crouched low to get a closer glimpse of the ripest ones, she tasted a few. The burst of fruitiness was tart with a sweet aftermath and she was very pleased with her find. 

Imagining

But Macbeth knows his wife says what he already imagines – a golden round, a king.

Checking

It was quickly revealed that the wonderful gift was a coat designed in a cape-like shape in the most dynamic, remarkable colour the girl had ever seen.

Writing Week 1 Term 3

Kia Ora bloggers, this blog will be about my writing task for this week. The task was to create part of the Hansel and Gretel story in 9 sentences. Here are my 9 sentences.

The sticks crunching under their feet were picking away at Gretel’s temper. “Look there is a house over there!” Yells Gretel. They both run over to the house. They stood outside of the house and looked at it up and down, the roof creaking in the wind.  The door stood half open luring the kids closer to the house. They stood at the bottom of the staircase leading to the house. “We must go back to father” Says Hansel in a shaky voice. Gretel grabs Hansel’s hand and pulls him into the house.

Brendon Mccullum

Early Life.

On the 27th of September 1981 in Dunedin, Otago, Brendon Mccullum was born to a sporting family, the Mccullum’s. Brendon's love for sport didn’t start with cricket as he played in the 1st XV for King’s High School. Brendon was becoming increasingly competent with his skills that Dan Carter said he had to spend a lot of time on the bench because of Brendon. Stuart, Brendons Father played for the otago cricket team and Nathan, his brother played for NZ with the ODI and T20 Teams.

Career.

Brendon started playing rugby before cricket and then started to become increasingly good at these sports as he played for otago for rugby. He joined the New Zealand cricket team on 17th January 2002. Brendon roles were wicket keeping and batting, he also was a Right arm medium or an Right arm off break bowler. Some career highlights for Brendon are that he is one of the only batsmen to play 100 consecutive tests and on the 18th of February 2014 he scored 300 runs in a test against india. After retiring from international cricket Brendon went on to play for teams like Brisbane heat, Otago, Warwickshire and Middlesex cricket teams.

Life Aside from Sport.

Brendon was married in 2003 to Ellissa Mccullum. Brendon has 2 children that are Riley and Maya Mccullum. Some nicknames Brendon has been given are BBM, Baz and B Mac. Brendon has multiple tattoos like on his arm, chest and ring finger. The tattoo on his arm has roman numerals CXXVI, XLII and CCXXIV which are his ODI and Test Number and a former cricketer. The tattoo on his chest is a silver fern and the one on his ring finger is a tattoo of his ring because he can’t wear it while playing. Brendon’s net worth is $6 Million. Now Brendon is an Ambassador for the Maia Health Foundation. Brendon said on the Maia website “I know that if it was my son or daughter in hospital, I’d want to know I’d done all I could to make that time as comfortable as it could be. Christchurch Hospital takes great care of kids from around the South Island. Māia is recognising that through its enhancement project for the Children’s Wards, one of the first projects they are undertaking – and they are asking for your help”.

Conclusion.

In conclusion I think Brendon Mccullum is a great New Zealander because of him helping with healthcare, and sticking to his goals. I personally look up to him because of his approach to problems in the community and he is a leader to follow, I also look up to him because of his look at his sport where he can always play a positive game and helping others.
